Something I have come to realize about myself is that I often think way to hard about things that are simple. For example, we get a lot of small assignments in class to just play around with type or whatever to practice. I have a small assignment due this week for multimedia and all I have to do is create a page using what we learned about lists. It can have whatever content we want and the design can be whatever. This shouldn't take long. I know how to achieve things with css to style lists. But it has taken me forever just because I over analyze small things like this. What do I want this to be about? Should it be funny? Serious? What images should I use? Colors? etc, etc, etc. Holy crap, can't I just make a simple decision and stick to it?
I tend to change my mind a lot. In multimedia last semester I changed my web portfolio design 7 times in the few weeks we had to work on it. Is it because I want the best or am I just indecisive? I'd like to think that I wanted the best for my own personal site, but why can't I make a quick decision for this assignment that no one, with the exception of my professor and classmates, will see?
I need help with this. But where do I even start?
on a happier note, I found this design group and was blown away.

tired.
I think I am coming down with something. I started feeling pretty bad today so I've been in bed for awhile and now I can't go back to sleep. I always hate when that happens. All you want is to fall asleep but your mind and body refuse.
This was the first full week of classes. To be honest, I feel like I've already been in school for a month or so. I'm not sure why. Its not like I'm already super busy or stressed...it just feels like I've already been here for so long. My schedule is really great this semester, I've got class from 9 to 12 during the week and then when my internship begins I'll work 1 to 5. I like that better than having to go back and forth to class all day with breaks. I do have a night class but I like that I have a good amount of time in between. Right now I'm working on branding and logos for two small businesses I created in class and also researching historic design posters and later recreating one of my own for the Addys. Speaking of the Addys, I think I'm going to enter some of my work into the competition this year. That would be nice to have on my resume. I'm also planning on entering some of my illustrations into the Society of Illustrators. I think I'll enter my TN State Fair piece in and maybe some others...Fingers crossed for both of those.

exciting news
I got some exciting news this past week. I love to make jewelry and sold some at the yart sale a few months ago with a ton of success. I have been meaning to start selling it online but just haven't gotten around to it yet. But I gave a lot of earrings as Christmas gifts to friends and family. I gave a few pairs to one of my best friends in South Carolina who works at a salon and spa. She kept telling me I should try to sell my jewelry there but I wasn't sure if I really could. But her boss saw the earrings I made when my friend wore them to work and loved them and wants to sell them in the spa! So I really need to start making jewelry asap since I sold most all of my inventory. I'm thinking about creating my own website but to start I might sell on etsy.com. When I get that up and running I will post it on here.
In other news, I joined the YMCA this weekend and I'm really excited to be exercising regularly again. I used to work out so much when I was a cheerleader at my last university but after I got really sick with the flu for over a month, I just never got into it with the same intensity. But with the new year, I'm feeling really motivated. My new year's resolution was to start cooking more because with a lack of free time I seem to eat lean cuisines all the time. So I made a promise to myself to actually cook healthy meals and so far its been going great. I'm really enjoying cooking, and experimenting with recipies. I was thinking that this is just a new way for me to create, and a good outlet too. So life is really going great and I'm off to a healthy start.

my website
So I completed my personal portfolio website in December as my final project for Multi Media I. I wanted to share it to show both my work and the fruits of my labor in web design class:)

i got an internship!
So I finally got an internship for the Spring semester. I had an interview with Redpepper on Monday and they hired me that day! The firm looks amazing and seems to be an incredible place to learn and get valuable experience. The firm has about 21 people and also has a small branch in Atlanta. I'm excited about the opportunites I am going to get there and the people I will get to work with! Check out their website to learn more about them: www.redpepper.com.
I will begin in Feb. because my supervisor is out of the office until then but my schedule works out great so that I can work enough hours and more to fit in the requirements for the program. I can't wait!
I began classes yesterday and I am so ready to get back! I'm taking Design III, Typography III, and Multi Media II and then my internship also counts as a class. My schedule is great and I'm so looking forward to getting back into the swing of things and learning!
